On Sonic Art welcomes the contribution of the community in creating a sound map of Singapore. Sounds forms part of our memories to an environment such as the cries of your first born child, the bells of the ice-cream truck, or the striking sounds of the “ding ding” candy. We can also use sound to relate to the people that mean the most to us, the voices of our parents, the kids running around the playground. On Sonic Art seeks to create a collection of sound that defines each individual in Singapore and what sounds mean to them.

To further strengthen the message of the project and to help the audience better understand the art form, the artists will also have a post show talk to share their ideas, creative processes and experiences. It will also be a platform for the audience to interact with one another as well as a time for them to bond with their families.

On Sonic Art was held at The Arts House on the 2nd of March 2013. Formerly, The Old Parliament House from 1965 to 1999 is an iconic building in Singapore being the oldest existing government building in the country. Now, a multi-disciplinary arts venue playing host to arts exhibitions and concerts, the building is rich in history, yet accessible and welcoming. The Arts House is a venue that holds significance to a range of generations.
